Siri says she can't help with that.

The first time you use a Siri phrase, iOS asks permission to run Log's shortcuts — the prompt is easy to miss. Say the phrase again and confirm, or open the app once and retry. To see everything Log can do, tap the ? button at the top of the timeline — “What Log can do” lists every way to capture, any time. (Siri's “Hey Siri, Log help” works too, but only while Log is already open.) And the surest ways to capture don't need Siri at all: the Action Button, Control Center, a widget, or the capture bar.

Where do deleted entries go?

Recently Deleted (under the filter menu) keeps them for 30 days, then removes them permanently. You can restore or erase them there any time.

How does sync work?

Entries save to your device instantly and sync through your personal iCloud in the background — no account to create, nothing passes through our hands. Large videos take longer than text.

What's the fastest way to capture?

Whatever's nearest: the Action Button, Control Center's Quick Log, a lock-screen or home-screen widget, or the capture bar in the app (type, hold the mic, camera, or photo library). On Mac, ⌥⌘L from any app or the menu-bar ＋. On the watch, raise your wrist and tap ＋. Siri works too — “Hey Siri, Log an entry”, then dictate.

What can I say to Siri?

Lead with the word Log — these all work:

• “Hey Siri, Log an entry” → then dictate your note
• “Log a note with my location” → a note tagged with where you are
• “Log a voice note” → starts recording
• “Log current location” → logs where you are
• “Log my last photo” / “…video” → attaches your newest one
• “Show my Log” · “Log version” (tells you the build)

One retired phrase: use “Log current location”, not “Log my location”. Siri could mishear the older phrase (especially with an accent) as a command to switch off your Find My location sharing — Log can't change that setting itself, it was Apple mis-hearing the words, so we replaced the phrase. If your sharing was ever switched off, turn it back on in Find My → People.

How do I report a problem?

In TestFlight: take a screenshot in Log, tap its preview → Share Beta Feedback (device and build details attach automatically). Or TestFlight → Log → Send Beta Feedback. If Log ever crashes, send the crash report when TestFlight offers. Email works too: log@bobobrien.net.

Which devices does Log need?

iPhone or iPad on iOS/iPadOS 18+, Mac on macOS 15+, and/or Apple Watch on watchOS 11+ — each signed in to iCloud. The more devices, the better: syncing across them is the whole point.
